Tree Series
Ever since I got my first pair of glasses in 4th grade and realized you can actually see individual branches, I've been fascinated by the shapes and patterns in trees. In these quilts I stylize and simplify tree silhouettes, and explore depth through sunlight and shadow.
Tree #1
2013, 51"x63"
Tree #2
2013, 34" x 28"
Tree # 3
2013, 35" x 29"
Tree #4
2014, 36" x 33"
Tree #5
2014, 37" x 51"
Since joining a Modern quilt group, I've been interested in using more negative space, especially in asymmetrical compositions, and filling it with texture that enhances the design.
Disappearing Squares
2012, 16" x 22"
Wonky Oranges
2012, 17" x 23"
I love the flexibility of raw edge applique.
Leaping People # 2
2012, 41" x 56"
